SR20DET Rebuild – Part 2 – The long wait

So it has been a month and I thought it was time for a bit of an update. I have been busy ordering parts but not much building going on, still waiting on last bits and pieces before I can really get going.

I sent the block, crankshaft and head off to the machinist and it turns out that overall the engine is in good nick but there are a few problems.

Despite the fact that the bores look immaculate, down the bottom they are out of tolerance so it is going to need a rebore. The machinist also strongly recommended that the crankshaft get a re-grind as there was a fair bit of bearing material deposited on the surface. Just to top it off the exhaust valve guides are also worn out and will need replacing. So that kind of sucked, but such is life.

Un-deterred I decided to press on start collecting parts.

DriftMob – Drift Night Double Trouble

So new to Team Red Stage so maybe a bit of an introduction first.

Name is Sebastian and I currently drive an S13 Siliva. I bought her bog-stock straight from Japan in 2006 and have been slowly building her up. Outside is stock but currently making 215rwkw with a GT2871 @ 18psi and a stock bottom end. I  was planning on spending last weekend in Sydney so thought I would have a slide at the Driftmob Drift Night held at the Eastern Creek whilst I was in town.

I also recently bought a box of goodies from Japan about 2 months ago when the Yen was weak through Jesse Streeter (Nismo 2 Way)

Oh no!

Unfortunately the cars that we had previously announced we were using for matsuri, have fell through. Emily from Power Vehicles advised that once they had received the black 180, there were some bad metal on metal noises coming from the engine. The other White Sil80 had more rust than first thought, the LSD was worn and we were recommended against buying the car. It has since been resold today. So what are we going to drive a Ebisu

I have *hopefully* secured another car from the auctions today and we are still waiting for more information on a second car from Andy.
