Odaiba – Artificial Island in Tokyo bay

If you ever go to Japan, make sure you leave a day to check out Odaiba. There is a whole bunch of stuff you can do that will keep everyone interested but as you might know, we’re car enthusiasts so we mainly checked out the car stuff.

There is no Train that goes directly to Odaiba. You need to catch it from a station around Ginza, I’ve forgotten the name but people will know about it if you ask. The train takes you over the Rainbow bridge, which is a nice normal colour during the day and lights up like a rainbow at night.

We decided to get off one of the early stops and just walk around the Island. It is big but what we were interested in was with in walking distance of each other. You may have seen this building before…

Yes, it is the Fuji TV building you see in the back drop of the D1GP exhibition rounds in Tokyo. Just a short walk away is a scaled down statue of liberty.

Walking south, we passed through Starport park (or something similar).

This is where the Life Size Gundam was until 31 August.

Our next stop was Pallet town, which has Meg@web – a Toyota showroom.

Entry is free and they dispaly new cars and some older cars.

There are a number of things that you can ride and play with including a ride in a fully automatic car, Yes it drives and steers itself! There were a number of old race cars on display.

Also in Pallet town is Venus Fort. It is a large shopping center that has been model of Ceasers Palace in Vegas. I haven’t been to Ceaser’s palace so I’m not able to confirm this but it is very cool none the less. Unfortunately the photos from inside Venus Fort did not come out so you’ll have to check it out yourself. Definitely a place you can bring your girl friend to as long as you have a credit card.

Also in the same complex was the History Garage. The History Garage is a car museum with the original Godzilla.

The flash wasn’t strong enough to take a picture of Rob’s pose.

I noticed there were alot of toy dogs in this area, so if you don’t like dogs, it might be a place to avoid.
